Behind the Wheel
The Behind-the-Wheel Requirement
What a teen still needs after the course — six hours in a car and the DL400D certificate. They refer this to trusted affiliates.
Driver education is the first of two requirements. A teen under 18 must also complete six hours of professional behind-the-wheel training and receive the six-hour certificate, form DL400D.
Teen Driving School does not teach the in-car hours themselves. They refer students to affiliates they name on their own site, for San Diego and for North County — so ask them who they currently recommend rather than searching from scratch.
Adults are not held to the six hours: an adult may take any number of lessons, or none.
- Six hours required for under-18s
- Six-hour certificate is DMV form DL400D
- In-car training referred to their named affiliates
- No minimum for adults
