How to get a license

Four steps, in order, and nobody skips one.

Online course, permit test, six hours behind the wheel, then the drive test — after fifty hours of practice with a parent.

Press a manoeuvre

Parallel Park

Pull level with the car in front of the space and sit about a metre off it. Reverse on full lock until you are round 45 degrees, straighten, then opposite lock brings the tail in and the car comes out parallel. The examiner is marking your mirror and blind-spot checks at least as closely as the car.

  1. Pull alongside the car in front of the space.
  2. Reverse on full lock to 46°.
  3. Opposite lock swings the tail in.
  4. Straighten up and centre in the space.

Every instructor here has driven the examiner routes in San Diego County more times than they can count.

Our cars

Gas and brake on both sides.

Every training car is dual-control, so the instructor can act while the student stays at the wheel.

Their training cars are modified with the gas and brake on the passenger side as well, so a first-time driver holds the wheel from the first minute while the instructor keeps a way to intervene.

  • Dual controls — gas and brake on both sides
  • Lessons start and end at your door
  • Two full hours of driving per lesson
  • Lessons run in the rain, deliberately
